 Telephone Preference Service (TPS) FAQs


How does it work?
You simply dial the number and if it is registered with the TPS you get a brief recorded message telling you this and the call is terminated automatically.

It it cheaper if I go with the TPS?
A resounding no.  The TPS wear two hats.  The first is where a domestic or corporate user registers with them to stop sales calls.  The second is that they provide services to allow businesses to find out who has registered and who has not.  These services can literally cost a large corporate company over £11,000 per year for the Licensses to access this information.  Then even as the data is provided by CD the company have to cross check all the numbers they wish to call before they can begin a sales campaign.

But do the TPS have a Low Volume Option?
Yes they do.  However, it is a minimum charge of £50 per month for just 500 numbers per month, with additional charges if you go over the 500.

So by using your service I save money on calls and there are no monthly charges?
Exactly right.  Our system has it all built in.  You can save up to 70% on your BT bill.  Get cheap International calls, and there are no monthly or yearly charges and you do not even have to cross check the data.

But what if I want to call someone who is on the register?
If you have more than one line then simply do not register all your lines for TPS.  On the form that we send you when you sign up you need to list all your lines and tell us which ones you want to protect and to make sales calls on. i.e. TPS and which ones you want to remain free from screening CPS.  If you only have one line we can provide you with an over ride code that you simply dial to bypass the TPS screening when making that particular call.

Is there any minimum contract?
No.  Absolutely not.  We know that you will be happy with the service.  Constantly protected from legislation and fines and with great savings on all your calls, we have complete confidence that you will not wish to move.  Therefore, we don't chain our customers to us.  You are free to cancel at anytime.

What is the TPS's own website as I want to find out more and how I might be fined?

Do I have to be a big business to get these astounding service?
No.  We welcome you even if you are a small business and work from home or a large business. 

What is Carrier Pre Select?
In simple terms your line or lines are reprogrammed at the BT Exchange so that all your calls are routed via us so that you can receive substantial savings without any loss of service or quality of calls.

 Do I have to give up my BT Line or Number?
Absolutely not.  No you keep your BT line and your number.  You will not miss any calls. You continue to pay your line rental to BT.

What if I still want to occasionally route my calls through BT?
We can't see why you would want to do this as you save with us at every level and destination.  However, if you wish to do so that is not a problem.  You are given a code number to dial if you wish to route through BT.

How good is the quality of my calls?
Quite simply we might have the cheapest rates on the Internet but we pride ourselves on our superior call quality.  Beware of others that offer cheap rates.  Many of these often require you to dial long and complicated codes.  Further, the calls are often diverted to another International number and then rerouted back to the UK.  This obviously results in a far inferior quality of calls.  With us there will be no difference to your service.

Do I need new equipment?
No.  None whatsoever.  No smart boxes.  No reprogramming of your switchboard and no visit is needed to your premises.  You simply sign up from the documents we send you for an invisible integration.

Must I have a BT Line to use your service?
Unfortunately Yes.  We cannot provide you with our service if your telephone service is with a supplier other than BT such as a cable operator
